Food | The Top 5 Organic Musts
ORGANIC MUSTS
Would you eat this?
Ultimately the end goal is to buy everything organic, non-sprayed, from your local farmers market, unfortunately not everyone has that luxury or availability.
Here are the top 5 things to buy and eat organic!
1. Apples
I am partial to the Pink Lady, but no matter your preference, apples are number one on the Environmental Working Group's (EWG) produce with the greatest pesticide consumption.
2. Tomāto, tomăto
No matter how you pronounce this low hanging fruit, it should always be organic. It is on the EWG's dirty dozen of foods that most easily absorb pesticides and are consumed on a regular bases in the American diet.
3. Soy
Soy is a natural filler product and additive. This bean is one of the largest agricultural producers in the world and is more often than not genetically modified and sprayed. Beware!
4. Root Vegetables
Root vegetables not only absorb the chemicals sprayed on the topsoil, but also contain the runoff water produced from inorganic farming and its hazardous by products. If it's in the ground, it is organic bound!
5. Corn
Corn is another leading filler product. Most corn is genetically modified and potent with chemicals. For your summer time cravings if organic isn't readily available buy sweat corn as it is often not a GMO good and is a sweat tasting safer alternative.
