Sunday Funday | Dairy-Free Shopping
Shop with Me.
The paradox of choice, is that the more options we have the harder it becomes to know what we want. I completely understand, and have been there before looking at ingredients trying to hedge my bets on one product verse another. Fortunately for you, I have tried almost every "dairy-free" product and decided to take my readers shopping with me to find my favorite dairy alternative products.
Welcome to Whole Foods
Say Cheese :)
Miyokos is a vegan mozzarella that combines the soft creamy texture with the firm bounce of a traditional mozzarella. Unlike other vegan cheese which are often soy based and quite processed, this is coconut based with minimal ingredients. It is great for Italian cooking or everyday use.
Follow your <3
Follow your Heart, provolone cheese slices are a guilty pleasure of mine! They are made mostly out of tapioca starch and taste very similar to traditional deli cheese slices. These are excellent on crackers or rice cakes.
Live, Love, Kite Hill
I personally eat Kite Hill cream cheese on a regular bases. It is so unbelievably good you would never know it is made from cultured almond milk. Most mornings you can find me either drinking a green smoothie, or eating a rice cake with Kite Hill cream cheese, tomato, avocado, cucumber, and black pepper, or both!
Got Mylk?
There are so many choices when it comes to choosing your mylk (dairy-free milk). When looking for a good mylk, I look for minimal ingredient list, no preservatives, low sugar or none, and no added calcium. New Barn is a small batch almond mylk. Its ingredients include: Organic Almond milk (Spring Water, Organic Almonds), Organic Maple Syrup, Organic Acacia Gum (Acacia gum is a natural binding agent made from the acacia tree), and Sea Salt.
Anita's is A-Okay
Anita's coconut yogurt is divine. When I was a little girl, my mother used to feed me greek goddess yogurt. It was thick, creamy, and I far preferred it over ice cream. Anita's is not only comparable, it is better! Finally my dream came true I could have my cake and eat it too! It is small batch made in Brooklyn, made from cultured coconut, and is perfect alone or as a yogurt product in recipes.
Nice Cream
Nice cream, because no cows were harmed in the process of making this ice cream, and no stomachs were hurting from consuming a foreign mother's breast milk. Van Leeuwen's vegan ice cream is based on 5 ingredients: cashews, coconut milk, coco butter, olive oil, and organic cane sugar. It is the perfect consistency and will satisfy all your ice cream needs!
