End of Summer Liver Detox

The summer is almost over. After three months of pool parties, beach bonfires, and long warm nights, it is time to reset your body and try a liver cleanse.

Ideally we eat perfectly 24/7, don't drink alcohol, get 8-10 hours of sleep every night, and look like bay watch girls as we strut our stuff across the beach. That is plan "A," but then there is life.

Life happens and we aren't perfect (fortunately because being perfect sounds exhausting), but we can create balances that counter act eating poorly or drinking too much. When I go out on the town and get smashed off my two glasses of wine (light weight), I will take a fresh pressed ginger shot in the morning with a turmeric kombucha. Together both help breakdown toxins in my body, boost my immune system with anti-inflammatory properties and probiotics, and reset my inner homeostasis.

For a deeper internal cleanse I have found Chanca Piedra.

Chanca Piedra is a naturally occurring herb in the rainforest which boosts the body's renal system by stimulating the liver and gall bladder to increase detoxification efforts. Indigenous Amazon people have been using this herb to cure gallbladder infections, kidney stones, and protects the liver from oxidative stress. This herb can be taken daily as a supplement or in week intervals as a detox.

Mix 1 tsp as a tea, into a smoothie, or in a fresh pressed juice.

Please note: Often people suggest using charcoal to cleanse the body of toxins. Although you are cleansing the body of toxins you are also depleting the body of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. I suggest only using this method with great caution and would stick to herbs that aid in breakdown but don't deplete the system of minerals.
