Small Spaces Big Ideas | How to Organize Your Life
Livin
Cities like New York, are often considered very desirably places to live, but they certainly come with a cost - (and I'm not even talking about the rent) - The cost I am speaking of is "Limited Space."
There is no reason to fear the challenges of having less room when instead you can embrace it as an opportunity to get yourself organized and live simply.
Organizing 101
1. You Are Responsible For Everything You Own: We live in an era of consumerism, but having too many things is exhausting. You need to "find a home for your "things", and maintain them and their quality. In a world with limited space, always remember, "Less Is More." Purge the excess, and throw away the possessions you have no further use for to allow for a simpler, lighter existence.
2. Categorize: Organizing is just another word for categorizing. Create categories within a drawer by using small boxes, and try placing similar-topic books together on your shelves to make them more accessible. Try to envision your life as one large book that you are simply creating an index for.
3. Store Seasonally: Most climates have seasons, which means a varying wardrobe, countless shoes, and bulky garments for the colder weather. At the end of each season figure out what you will need for the upcoming weather and keep your wardrobe condensed to what you will wear over the next 6 weeks. Store everything else. This will give you a continual fresh sense of change in your wardrobe without shopping for new items and it will provide simplicity on the surface to your everyday life.
Maximizing Storage in Artistic Ways
This side table can sit upright or horizontally allowing you to maximize your storage space. It slips right over the couch creating an extra surface to eat on, read, or sip your morning tea.
No Guest Room? No Problem
One of the biggest "space hacks" in a small place is a sofa that can be transformed into a bed.
Pullout couches, although sound great in theory, still require a great amount of space when transformed into a proper bed and are denser, meaning they are more difficult to transport through narrow corridors. Having a sofa that combines fashion, function, and friendship allows you to have the looks of an everyday "Netflix and chill" lifestyle with the availability to have company.

What's Under Your Bed?
Use every piece of furniture as an opportunity for organization. If you maximize every piece of furniture and find the utilitarian value besides it's original intended function you will find yourself with a clean, uncluttered space.
Here I maximize the space inside the couch as a pop-up linen closet.
